Why You?
Today there is an abundance of choice for the consumer. Technological advances, changes in consumer service, in methods of delivery, and other innovations all lead to more and newer products and services for the consumer to choose from. In 1948, the average grocery had 2,200 products. In 1972 it was up to 9000 products, by 1994 it was 19,000 products and today it’s about 45,000 different products! Think about how many you actually buy.
So every time a customer buys from you, they are choosing your product or service over a large number of other options. But do you really know why your customers are choosing you?
If you haven’t already asked, find out from them. Create a short survey with as many reasons as you can think of for why people buy from you and ask some of your customers to rank their top five. Make sure you also include ‘other’ and some space for them to write in their own reason. You may be surprised at what you learn!
Then make sure you tell everyone these reasons. Use them in your marketing to promote your business with prospective customers and to remind your current customers why they should keep coming back to you.
You should be able to answer the question ‘why me?’ in 90 words or less. “My customers choose me because . . .“ Write it out, tell everyone and deliver on it every day.
